2012 Recital Planning Policies

As we begin planning for our 2012 Dance Recitals the below information will help you to have the best experience possible

  • Participation in our end of the year recital is optional but highly encouraged as it is a great experience for our dancers and considered the finale of a great year at Suzanne’s
  • The main aspects to consider for recital include: Costs/Fees, Schedules, Meetings, Costuming, and Class moms.

Costs/Fees

  • Costumes – Typically around $50- $60 per costume. Costume payments are non refundable under any circumstances as they also can’t be returned.
  • Recital Fee – Because we like everyone to be able to see our dancers perform we host the performance absolutely free of charge for admission. In order to provide the space, lights, props, etc each dancer that performs will pay a $25 recital fee due April 2nd.

Schedules

  • We will have 3 different performances in May. Each show will also have a separate rehearsal time outside of class times. The times are as follows:
    • Senior Production Recital – all classes in the Secondary Level and Up
      • Rehearsal – Monday May 14, 2012 4:00pm
      • Recital – Sunday May 20, 2012 2:00pm
  • Red Junior Recital – a combination of classes in the Pre-Primary and Primary Level
    • Rehearsal – Friday May 11, 2012 4:30pm
    • Recital – Saturday May 19, 2012 1:00pm
  • Blue Junior Recital – a combination of classes in the Pre-Primary and Primary Level
    • Rehearsal – Friday May 11, 2012 6:30pm
    • Recital – Saturday May 19, 2012 3:30pm

Costumes

  • Costume balances must be paid in full by the end of January. If a student will NOT participate in our end of the year recital notice must be given before Christmas break in January by way of our Mid- Year Form. If notice is not given otherwise, you WILL be responsible for payment of your child’s costume.
  • Costume payments are not refundable under any circumstances.
  • Once measurements have been taken and all costumes have been ordered you can expect to see them arrive by Late March – Mid April. They will then be given out by the teacher in your child’s class.
  • Should there be any problem with the fit of your child’s costume you, as the parent, are responsible for any needed alterations. With measurements we do as best we can to get a perfect fit but we cannot guarantee one.
  • After costumes are given out in each class you are responsible for their care. Should any pieces be lost we cannot guarantee a replacement. The best idea is to put them up in their bags and leave them until recital. Do NOT allow your child to wear them before the show to make sure they stay safe!
  • You are responsible for specified shoes and tight colors to coordinate with your child’s costume. This will be announced during recital meetings.

Meetings

  • During the week of April 23-27th each class will have a meeting to go over costuming and specific details of this year’s recital. We ask that all parents attend to have all important information about the show.
  • One child will be selected as the costume model for his/her class. During the week of recital meetings we ask that that child come fully dressed in costume with proper makeup and hair in a bun unless otherwise specified.
  • The costume bag of the chosen model will be marked specifically as a reminder, an email will be sent, and your child’s teacher will also let your child know. This is simply so that all parents can have something to look at to get a better picture as to how their child should look for the show.

Class Moms

  • We will be asking for Class Moms for all dance levels Secondary and below. This includes Tiny Tots, Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary.
  • Class moms are vital to the smooth running of our shows. They assist with their child’s class in costume changes, orders and line ups, and watching over our young dancers while they are back stage
  • Class moms will watch the performance while their class is performing from the side wing so they can walk them to the stage and greet them when they finish performing. We’ve been so thankful for the tremendous help we have had!
